Fresh, ripe fruit and rose petals are used to make our jams, jellies and syrups.
The origins of these preserves are centuries-old.
Il negoziante, written by Gian Domenico Peri in 1683, tells us that «the sugared preserves and conserves made in Genoa are more excellent than those prepared in any other part of the world».
Fruits and spices were originally preserved to keep the qualities of the fresh product intact; the preserving process was therefore scrupulous.
The same level of care goes into making our range of apricot, black cherry, orange, quince, strawberry, berry fruit, peach, plum and rose preserves; apricot, black cherry, quince, blackcurrant, raspberry and apple jellies; quince preserve and chestnut cream.
We use fresh, ripe fruit and absolutely no preservatives or colourings during all our production processes; as a result, our products stand out for their absolute goodness and genuineness.

Our syrups are made using the same ingredients:
- black cherry, raspberry and berry fruit syrups made with fresh fruit and sugar;
- almond milk syrup, made by mixing freshly ground almonds with sugar syrup;
- rose petal syrup, a noble Genoese tradition once used as a herbal and medicinal remedy, made by boiling petal leaves in sugar;
- mint syrup, made with sugar and extract of mint grown in the Piedmont region.
Our range of preserves also includes:
- manna preserve, like rose syrup a traditional herbal and medicinal remedy, made by mixing the resin of the Sicilian ash tree with sugar and egg whites;
- sweet pickle, made with candied fruit;
- marrons glacés, preserved in sugar syrup;
- orange flower water, whose fragrance reigns supreme in Liguria, used as a flavouring in cooking and as a medicinal product.
Romanengo's candied violets, made with freshly gathered flowers, are one of a kind today.
